Features and Overview
Marin and Tarin's House is the House of Marin and Tarin, located in the center of Mabe Village. Before the Sword is obtained, both Marin and Tarin stay inside the House. After it is found, Marin moves outside to sing the "Ballad of the Wind Fish" out by the Weather Vane and Tarin goes on an expedition to the Mysterious Forest to look for Toadstools.[4] Once Tarin is rescued with the Magic Powder, he returns to rest in the House's left Bed.[5]
The exterior of the House features a fenced-off area covered in Grass with a Tree in the northeast corner of the fences and a Cucco left of the Door. The interior contains two Pots, two Beds, and a potted Palm Tree in the top-left of the House behind the headboard of the left Bed. There is a stand for a Goomba Figure on a desk with pictures of the Wind Fish's Egg on Mt. Tamaranch, of Marin and Tarin together, and Marin alone.[6] A Piranha Plant Figure stand sits on the floor at the base of the left Bed.[7] There is a wardrobe in the top-right corner of the House, which Tarin yells at Link if he tries to open it while he is present and conscious,[8] causing Marin to put a hand over her mouth in shock. While Tarin is absent, Link can simply check the dresser without obstruction.[9]
Marin and Tarin's House is the place where Link awakens after being shipwrecked. Greeted by Marin, she exclaims that is is a relief that he is awake and that he was rolling around the Bed in his sleep, and introduces herself and explains where he is after he mistakes her for Princess Zelda.[10] If spoken to again, she advises him to go south to Toronbo Shores and warns him to be wary of the Monsters that infested the beach following his arrival.[11] If Link attempts to leave before speaking to Tarin, Marin's father calls for him to come back and says he has something to tell him.[12] When Link speaks to Tarin, he introduces himself and tells Link that he hopes he is feeling better.[13] When Link expresses confusion over how Tarin knows his name, he explains that he saw the hero's name engraved on the back of the Shield,[14] which he then gives to Link.[15] If spoken to again, Tarin recalls that several other Items and Objects had washed up on the Shores as well, and warns Link to be careful if he chooses to go to the beach, as the amount of Monsters in the area had increased significantly after he was shipwrecked.[16]
