Crescent City Harbor has a narrow beach that is protected from the wildocean waves that batter the shoreline outside the jetties. At low tide the mud flats of Elk Creek are exposed as the water recedes. Beachfront Park is a large open grass park between Front Street and Howe Drive that makes this area great for families. The park has a disc golf course, horseshoe pits, a huge playground, and open lawns for other sports and activities. To get to the beach turn off Front Street onto Stamps Way (at H Street) and continue to the beach front area. There is a parking lot on the left next to the mouth of Elk Creek. Parking spaces also line the entire length of Howe Drive. This is a great area for walking. From the park or the beach you can walk south to the wooden B Street Pier, stroll the pathway on the rock jetty, and even hike out to the Battery Point Lighthouse at low tide. In the park you’ll find the Northcoast Marine Mammal Center where visitors can see some of the marine animals they are rehabilitating.
